Encore

America got two visitors this week: The Pope on the East and Xi on the West. Vladimir appeared on CBS. Everyone comes in peace. Right.

Trump could become a fading fad. As good as it is to have proof that anti-political correctness works—as great as it is to have a Conservative-supported candidate in a spitting match with FNC—Howard Beal from “Network” was never going to last, nor was the “Terror” of France’s guillotines. Yes, Trump, the great deal maker, sits atop his tower, reading American sentiment, and regurgitates is right back at the public, perfectly and all. But he has used the same sentiment his entire career and been successful at it. Is he a fake? If he is then he’s a three decade fake who’s fooled his own kids. We’ll just have to see. Regardless, Carson’s substance could overtake Trump’s pomp. The future remains unforeseeable at this point because Carson is a rookie with beginner’s luck and Trump is thirty-year champ on a ten-year winning streak who’s stayed ahead in this entire game. Records were made to be broken and we’re in uncharted waters by all accounts. Stay tuned.

Carson, however, seems to be addressing deeper issues in America.

“…Fix the PC culture in our country, which only listens to one narrative. And if it doesn’t fit their philosophy, then they try to ascribe some motive to it… Whenever you are asked a certain question, it has to be answered in a certain way, and if you don’t answer it that way, then let’s attack. Let’s not try to actually understand what a person is saying. Let’s just attack, attack, attack. And hopefully, everybody else will look at that and they will realize they’re never supposed to say something like that again. That’s what the PC culture is.” – Dr. Ben Carson

If that “PC” culture is to leave America, Sunday morning will be forever changed.

Ahmed the “clockist” draws attention. The school wants the parents to sign a release statement so the school can tell its side of the story. But any good parent would refuse to sign—as long as they aren’t making loads of cash in donations. It is Symphony’s view that the Judge was right on FNC: Everyone over-reacted. The kid shouldn’t have been surprised that dissecting anything—clocks or animals—would scare a teacher. Had the school been up with the times—and been teaching with Raspberry Pi kits from grade school like they should be—they would have known that it was neither a bomb nor a real science project. Teachers and schools should be smarter than to be fooled by youthfulness. “Smart” kids use Raspberry Pi and Arduio kits. A properly trained staff should have recognized that not only did it look like any old disassembled clock, but it didn’t have any explosives. The only charges came from the school, who blew it out of proportion, allegedly, just as Ahmed wanted. But, we’ll never know.
